Is he ‘The One’?

The other day when Prashant and I were scrolling through our phones, I happened to ask him the same question. He was perplexed and obviously thought that I had lost my mind. His repsonse comprised of a long stare. Prashant usually steers away from conversations that could lead to an unecessary fight. hahah!

Honestly, Prashant and I are poles apart when it comes to loving one another. We are still deciphering our love language. Sometimes we mess it up and on other days we are so on point, that we end up surprising one another.

It’s true what people say about marriage- You don’t know what works for you until you’ve been married. I had a very clear picture in my head about how my life partner would be. His mannerisms, habits, lifestyle- everything. However, one can plan a wedding ceremony to the T, not the life that follows immediately after. Prashant and I, both didn’t fit into our own ideals of a ‘prospective life partner’. Even then, we ended up with one another! Call it Destiny. Today, when I look back at how our relatonship has evolved, in the past one year- I am amazed and grateful.

Coming back to the very question. Is he ‘The One’? Maybe not, because neither am I. That’s the beauty of marriage- It’s not absolute. However the mundane things become interesting when you share your life with a person!

Clothes and shoes can be custom made. A life partner? Not really. It’s the flaws, the fights, the unconfortable conversations, the silences that make the bond stronger. The fact that you can speak your heart out without thinking of the consequences is what makes a relationship worthwhile.

Advices don’t work in marriages but, honestly to desire a perfect partner is not fair to you and the other person. What’s fair is to have the right intent, the willingness to accomodate and a sense of comfort.
