How perfect would have life been if we always had the best of both worlds? But, life’s not meant to be perfect, it’s meant to be beautiful.
The same rule doesn’t apply to our clothes though. We can manage to get the best of both worlds in this aspect. That’s exactly what I did with this outfit. I borrowed a phiran (a traditional Kashmiri apparel) from my mother’s wardrobe, paired it with my long skirt (which is also my most favourite piece of clothing amongst my winter clothes) and a pair of metallic block heels. Together, each item complimented the other.
This beautiful hand-embroidered Phiran is the most coveted piece of clothing from my mother’s wardrobe. I could’ve stolen it but then I don’t have to. I have been fortunate enough to fit in my mom’s clothes because I’ve always had more options to choose from. Hi5 to all those who can borrow clothes from their mom’s closet! It’s a blessing indeed.
Quite often when I decide to shoot for my blog and get on with the process of styling myself and deciding the looks, I know beforehand what is it that I have to create a look with. This time it was the phiran. While, styling it with a pair of black denims is the most basic option I wanted to see how could I possibly style this some other way. That’s when I set my sight on this black skirt and Voila! The look was then complete.
I needn’t give any explanation for the belt because I guess this obsession is going to last a lifetime. This time around though I had a reason too and it wasn’t just a mere accessory in the ensemble. The Phiran is usually available in one size and is meant to be baggy. To give this look some definition, I decided to use the belt.
I accessorised the look with a pair of long earrings and attempted to do smokey-eye! I tied my hair in a manner that they looked neat and tidy because they did not really choose to behave that day.
